In a recent post, I made a remark about how NYC plans to make their bike-sharing data available to the public. A few days later, I received an email from Mitch Vars, the I.T. Director with Nice Ride MN. He said the following:
I was just reading your post about Sadik-Kahn’s GPS plans and as luck would have it I just finished compiling a data set from our 2011 season.
Feel free to pass it around and keep me posted if you do anything interesting with it.

There’s a lot of data here, and I haven’t had a chance to give it more than a quick glance, so have at it, folks. There’s enough data here to spawn at least a couple academic articles, and this data could keep a team of dedicated bicycle bloggers busy for months. Don’t take my word for it, but I’ll bet he could also provide some GIS datasets to help with analysis and to produce graphics if you send him an email.
That is a fucking wicked cool set of data. I’ll poke around when I have some time.
Capital Bikeshare in DC recently made their trip data available online by quarter.
This is great….thanks for sharing
